Zoe Zhao is an Edinburgh-based illustrator specialising in wildlife, birds and natural history. After studying at Edinburgh College of Art (2021–2022), she returned to the city in 2025 following the award of her UK Global Talent Visa. Working primarily in watercolour and mixed media, Zoe creates expressive yet research-based illustrations for editorial, museum, publishing and licensed products. She is particularly drawn to the transparent, luminous qualities of watercolour and the joy of hand-drawn mark-making, and approaches nature and birds with a continuing sense of curiosity and wonder.
